I stayed up on Monday night and watched every pitch of the Padres and Rockies tiebreaker game. I am a bit of a Rockies fan after having lived in that area for a few years, but I’m an even bigger Todd Helton fan. It was incredible to watch him celebrate on Sunday and Monday knowing that he finally made the playoffs with Colorado. I commend him for sticking with his deal and being loyal to his franchise, a completely rare thing nowadays. 99% of players of his caliber would have left Colorado years ago. A consummate professional, I wish Todd the best this postseason – he deserves it.
Update: What did Todd do with his first postseason opportunity? He tripled in his first at-bat and scored, starting the Rockies off to a lead in a 4-2 victory yesterday.
